Please find the answers to a number of frequently asked questions:
Steamed baits over boiled baits
Cooking boilies typically involves immersing them in boiling water. However, a lot of the valuable nutrients that are in the baits can be in the discarded water post-cooking.
We have specialised steaming equipment which gently steams the bait. This method significantly reduces water wastage and preserves a higher content of nutrients in our baits.
Approximately 60% of the natural properties are lost through boiling. In contrast, steaming losses are approximately 10%.
Our products contain numerous high-quality ingredients, and it’s crucial to maintain their integrity throughout the cooking process. By steaming our baits the highest possible quality is maintained.

Shelf Life of Prime Baits’ Freezer Baits
Frozen baits from Prime Baits, once thawed, can remain fresh for up to a week without refrigeration, due to the high protein content which inevitably produces sugars, in hotter climates, it’s important to shield your bait from direct sunlight, however, air drying can extend the life of freezer baits and make them more hydrophilic (please also see “Boosting prime baits”).
To extend the freshness of your bait, consider using primed bait soak and primed powders to refresh your baits during a long session of more than a week.
A Handy Tip: Aim to defrost only the quantity of bait you plan to use for your fishing session. Re-freezing our products more than once may reduce quality and effectiveness.
Shelf Life of Prime Baits Stabilised Bait
Stabilised baits from Prime Baits, can remain fresh if kept dry in an airtight sealed bag for very long periods.

Primed Bait Soak
A high quality blended liquid food which compliments each base mix. As a guide, use approximately 250ml per 5kg of bait, (it is recommended to air dry the bait to allow it to become more hydrophilic) apply the Primed Bait Soak for at lease an hour (the longer left to soak the better)
Primed Powders
A high quality blended coating powder which complements each base mix and fills the entire water column with attraction. Can be used as a stick mix or PVA bag mix, you can also add approximately 500g of primed powders to 5kg bait and shake well to evenly coat all. The coating should be dry on the outer skin of the baits which will then provide attraction to the entire water column.
Primed bait soak and primed powders can also be introduced to each other to make a devastating paste which rapidly breaks down once immersed in water.
